PROPOSAL
Briefing
We were given some freedom to choose our research topic as long as it was based on our area of specialization. I'd already decided on the topic of gamification in my previous semester before I deferred, so I decided to explore that further. After some discussion with my lecturer, I decided on the topic of gamification and its use in an online learning environment. This was based on my own experience in the previous semester, trying to study online during the pandemic, as well as the feedback of my classmates. I did some more research on the topic and came to note that students facing issues with motivation and staying attentive during online classes was a considerably widespread issue. My lecturer approved the subject matter as well, and after a bit of refining, I decided to create my research proposal.
Draft 1 + notes
Feedback: The general idea is fine, identify whether it is UI/UX design or social design (or a mix of both). Look into articles and papers regarding how online classes can negatively affect students as well as the different ways the experience can be improved using gamification (research papers if possible) and update for draft 2.
Draft 2
Feedback: Based on the class notes, reword the research problem with proper referencing and emphasize gamification in the problem statement.
Draft 3
Feedback: Adjust research proposal objectives and questions to better reflect the use and implementation of gamification rather than the impacts.
